Pedro Sánchez and the Grassroots Energy of Murcia’s Open Assemblies

The rally belonged to a citizens’ conference initiative titled Have the Word.
This campaign focused entirely on direct public engagement. The democratic format allowed regular neighbors to speak freely. Audience members shared their reflections in quick, sixty-second intervals. Sánchez listened intently to every speaker before answering them directly from the stage.
The party streamed the entire evening live on its official website. Meanwhile, thousands of citizens joined the political debate online. They used the trending hashtag #AsambleasAbiertas to share their thoughts in real-time. This stop was part of a massive tour across the Spanish geography.

However, I genuinely love these difficult shooting conditions. The heavy shadows allowed me to chase a highly artistic approach. I used the faint ambient light to create a classic Rembrandt look. This painterly style beautifully isolates the subjects against a deep, dark background. It added an undeniable sense of theater and gravity to the political stage.
